Winning the American Revolution
Winning the American Revolution meant more land for the colonists to settle on. This land took them all the way to the Mississippi River which means they can now use the Mississippi River for trade and transportation. The colonists had to make a Constitution and a brand new government following the American Revolution as the Articles of Confederation had very many flaws. Even though it got us through the war and established the North-West Ordinance, it had no national court system; any amendments to the Articles of Confederation had to be approved by all 13 states; the federal government did not have the power to collect debts or taxes; no chief executive; laws passed had to be approved by nine of the thirteen states; and the federal government did not have the power to draft an army. This led up to the Constitutional Convention in which more problems arise such as disputes of the representatives, giving the central government too much power and not having a bill of rights.
